MemorialConcepts
Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 6, 2026
MemorialConcepts is a service operated by Omnyconcepts LLC ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We wrote this in plain language so you can understand it during a difficult time. If anything is unclear, email us at support@memorialconcepts.com.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and a password (stored securely as a hash, never in plain text). We may also collect your name if you choose to provide it.
Event information. When you create a memorial event, we store the deceased's name, the city, the date, and any budget categories or items you add. This information is sensitive — it identifies a deceased person — and we treat it with care.
Contribution information. If you record contributions from family members or donors, we store contributor names, pledge amounts, paid amounts, and any notes you add. We do not require contributors to have accounts.
Payment information. When you upgrade to a paid tier (Honor or Repose), payment is processed by Paystack. We do not store your card or bank details on our servers. Paystack provides us with a confirmation token and the amount paid.
Technical information. Our servers automatically log your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit, for security and to help us fix problems. We use Sentry for error tracking, which collects information about errors that occur in the application.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the MemorialConcepts service to you
- Process payments and confirm tier upgrades
- Send transactional emails about your account and events (sign-in confirmations, payment receipts)
- Diagnose and fix technical problems
- Protect against fraud and unauthorized access
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your event information or contribution information for marketing.
Share links and family access
When you create a share link to give family members read-only access to your event, the link contains a secret token. Anyone with the link can view what you've chosen to share (the budget, and optionally the contributions). The link does not require an account to use.
We track how many times each share link has been accessed, so you can see who's been viewing the event. We do not collect identifying information about share link viewers — only the access count and timestamp.
You can revoke any share link at any time. Once revoked, the link stops working immediately. We recommend revoking links if you suspect they've been shared with someone you didn't intend.
How we keep your information safe
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit). Passwords are hashed before storage — we never see your actual password. Share link tokens are hashed before storage as well, so even our database administrators can't read them.
Payment processing happens entirely on Paystack's infrastructure (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified), the same payment provider used by major Nigerian businesses. We never see your card or bank account details.
Database access is restricted to specific server processes. We use Row-Level Security to ensure that one user's data cannot be accessed by another user, even by mistake.
Cookies
We use cookies for two purposes: keeping you signed in (a session cookie that expires when you sign out), and remembering your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your information. You can view and export your event data from within your dashboard at any time.
- Correct your information. You can edit your account details and event information at any time.
- Delete your information. Email us at support@memorialconcepts.com to request deletion of your account and all associated event data. We will complete the deletion within 30 days.
- Object to specific uses of your data. Email us with your concern.
We may need to retain some information for legal reasons (e.g., financial records for tax purposes). Where this applies, we'll explain at the time of your request.
Memorial accounts and the deceased
MemorialConcepts is a planning tool for the living, used to coordinate around a deceased person. The deceased themselves are not users of our service — only the families who plan their memorials.
The information about the deceased that you record (their name, the date and place of memorial, budget items, contributions made in their honor) is treated as your data, owned by you, and subject to all the rights described above.
We do not contact deceased persons. We do not market to deceased persons. We do not sell information about deceased persons.
Children
MemorialConcepts is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with information, contact us at support@memorialconcepts.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top, and notify active users by email if the changes affect how we handle existing data.
